A Game Golf Instruction “How-to Hit the Draw & Fade” 1 of 2
visit www.AGameGolfInstruction.com for hundreds of golf instruction videos. Golf Instruction Video #1 of 3 You see golf pros often play fade and draw golf shots during tournaments to achieve a more desirable result with the golf ball. How do they do that? There are different philosophies of instruction and you’ll have to decide which one you like. I personally like the way Jack Nicklaus Teaches it. If you have a good golf swing and can hit the golf ball straight already, the easiest way to hit a fade or a draw is by simply opening the golf club face or closing the golf club face. This golf instruction video shows how to pick a target line, setup for a golf shot and then execute it correctly. Consideration: 1: The more a club face is lofted, the less sidespin is applied. Very little sidespin is applied when opening the clubface of an 8 iron or higher for example. The ball just goes higher. 2: The less a clubface is lofted, the more sidespin is applied. Your driver has the leasts loft and the most ability to spin the ball sideways. When hitting a fade which requires opening the clubface, a 3 iron will apply more sidespin than an open clubface 7 iron.
It still surprises me, just how a lot of people do not know about Golfonax Training Program (google it), despite the fact that lots of people improve their golf skills with this training program. Thanks to my cooworker who told me about Golfonax Training Program, I have improve my golf skills.

For doubters and haters: watch the youtube video “Nicklaus Golf My Way – One Basic Swing”. Listen to what he says about using one swing and open or close the clubface to fade or draw.

this guy is miss informed. preferably do not try his method “at home”.
David Leadbetter teaches this method.. is he completely wrong too?
will the ball draw?… yes… therefore it is the right way…
will the ball fade?… yes… therefore it is the right way…
Who are you to dictate the “right” way to hit a draw/fade? Is Foley’s, Leadbetter’s, Harmon’s, or Haney’s the “right” way? Cause they all teach it differently…
this is completely wrong. You are operating on the false assumptions of the old ball flight laws. Depending on the loft of the club, the face orientation is responsible for ~85% of the starting direction of the ball. The other 15%, and the subsequent side spin that is created, is a result of the direction of the swing path in relation to the club face
What you said is wrong. The ball starts where the face points & not in the direction of momentum. Draws & fades work the same way as loft works, the ball starts where the loft points. If you hit down on a ball the ball does not go down into the ground because of the downward momentum it goes where the loft points. Same thing happens with fades & draws the ball starts where the face points.
I’ve never heard of using lag to draw or fade. Maybe you’re using “lag” in a different way than I’m used to. There are several ways to work the ball and this one will work; also, it’s hard to argue with the best player in history–Nicklaus.
Hey pal, you are totally wrong, this is not the way to hit a fade and a draw…this is one sure way of messing up a swing which will take yonks to put right…why do guys spend such much time putting shots on to your handicap with such crap!…from an 8 handicap UK golfer!
this could not be more WRONG in every way
The ball starts where the club face is aiming; physics 101!!!!!!! It is clearer when you putt (because of the grass there is no side spin) regardless the club path the ball will start and end where the putter’s face is looking. Enough with this myth!!!

Nevermind lol I didn’t see the second video : )
I like this idea, but I have a question, when closing or opening wouldn’t distance be affected, like when you closed the club face the loft went down…
FABULOUS! …. works for me! Cheers to AGameGolf for comprehensive and simple illustration .. thanks!!
I have a had a lot of trouble hitting the ball straight of the tee, switching from a slice to a fade, despite having little trouble with my irons normally. A friend of mine recommended that I learn to draw and fade of the tee, and forget about trying to hit straight. I tried a few different techniques on the range. This technique was the best for me. I’ve played 36 holes since, and have been almost perfect off the tee!! Pick a line, and set-up for a draw or a fade! I have taken ten strokes off!
This works well for me when hitting a fade, I actually just used it yesterday hitting a 3 iron to get away from some trees and onto the green. But I always just hit the ball straight or hit a slight draw when trying to draw it with this method.
now with a draw if you hit near the heel of the club (nearest to the shaft) the ball will go higher but maybe not as far oppisite with the fade, hit of the toe (farthest from the shaft the ball with go higher. good luck figuring it out. ; )
